I present a short and simple guide on how to housebreak your dog. You’re cute and cuddly puppy can be very messy, so learn how to deal with this with pet-care-junction great tips.
Positive Reinforcement
Simply put, intimidation and abuse won’t work. As a rule, you need to get 7 to 14 days in which the dog goes to the bathroom outside and gets praised for it. Perhaps the most important part of housebreaking is positive strengthening of your dog’s behavior.
Pretend as though that pee or poop is the greatest thing you have ever seen in your life. You might feel ridiculous but your dog will keep in mind it.
The Den Method
Puppies are hard-wired not to soil on themselves. This is where the dog crate becomes necessary. While a dog is in the crate, it will hold it as long as they are able, although do not leave the dog crated for more than four hours at a time unless it is bedtime. This method teaches the dog that OUTSIDE is the place for going to the bathroom.
While in training, the crate is your dog’s main domicile. This may seem tough but the dog can’t have free time in the house unless you have seen him go to the bathroom outside. When you take him out, if he doesn’t go, he must be put back into the crate right away.
When you take him out and he does go, praise him and give a small amount of free time so he knows he did a good thing. After 30 minutes of free time its back in the crate.
Set up a Regular Eating Routine
To best establish a time for your dog to go to the bathroom, it’s best to feed your dog at the same times every day.
With your puppy, there isn’t a lot of time between eating and the need to eliminate. In fact, it may be as short as 15 to 20 minutes after. Also, until your dog is house trained, avoid treats and snacks in-between meals. Follow this religiously and you’ll put your pooch on the path to success.

I purchassed a few books. Our puppy used to be ok around kids. Then my Niece, who was around her alot, started being aggressive with the puppy. Now my puppy doesnt want to see other small children and sometimes other small dogs. We have decided to read a few magazines for now, and then look into the appropriate training.
I’m not sure why but this site is loading extremely slow for me. Is anyone else having this issue or is it a problem on my end? I’ll check back later and see if the problem still exists.
